Dave Abdo is a cyber security entrepreneur and innovator who has founded two Washington, DC-based security enterprises: Missing Link Security Inc. (Missing Link Security was sold in the summer of 2018) and PHYLEO LLC. Dave has over 35 years of experience in delivering multi discipline security solutions to the government. He is also a veteran of the Air Force, where he provided communications security leadership for over 21 years.
Dave has served cyber security efforts within the Departments of Homeland Security, Justice, Defense, and Commerce, along with other government and commercial customers. He helped lead the information assurance reform effort at the FBI after the attacks of September, 2001 – developing a customized hybrid security management process that merged the best elements of DOD, NSA, NRO, and DNI processes. He has supported Homeland cyber security missions at NPPD, NCSD, S&T, and OHA. Dave has furthered his industry leadership at United States Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO), where his Missing Link team has integrated the NIST Risk Management Framework with the USPTO System Development Life Cycle – a first for Commerce and one of the firsts within the Federal government.
To complement Missing Link Security’s Information Assurance expertise and support the prosecution of illegal information technology activities, Dave founded, and manages, the cybercrime Private Investigation firm PHYLEO. (PHYLEO, closed its doors in December of 2020.) Today, Dave remains a licensed Private Investigator Dave and his team of investigative and digital forensics experts have investigated 42 cases and helped prosecute 21, with 17 resulting in convictions.
